England make it nine in a row with T20I series win over Sri Lanka

The England women’s cricket team has won its ninth succession match in a row on their Asia tour, the latest giving them an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T2oI series against hosts Sri Lanka in Colombo.

After winning four games on the trot in India – the dead rubber ODI and all three T20Is – England made it five consecutive victories over Sri Lanka with an eight-wicket win on Tuesday. (READ: Amy Jones, Tammy Beaumont star in England’s series sweep)

Chasing 109, England won in 13.5 overs.

Danni Wyatt (37) and Amy Jones (36) put on 79 for the opening wickets in 7.3 overs, after which Tammy Beaumont (16*) and Heather Knight (10*) across the line.

Earlier, Katherine Brunt took two wickets while the pair of Freya Davies (0/15) and Laura Marsh (1/16) bowled miserly four-over spells.

England had won the opening T20I by eight wickets too. The final T20I against Sri Lanka is on Thursday.
