Srikkanth could be sacked, say reports

After India’s debacle in the recently concluded Test series in England, chief selector Kris Srikkanth could face axe, according to media reports.

According to a report in ZEECRIC, Srikkanth will be under the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) scanner in the upcoming AGM scheduled to be held in Mumbai in September.

The report also claims that a strong lobby inside the BCCI wants Srikkanth’s ouster due to two reasons. One is Srikkanth’s ouster will ensure reduction of Tamil Nadu domination in BCCI as the state has too many representatives in BCCI. The other being the lobbyists wants Roger Binny to replace Srikkanth as the chief selector.

Earlier Srikkanth was also centre of selection controversy after it was known that Srikkanth had proposed his son Anirudh’s name for Emerging Players’ Tournament.

But the report also adds that BCCI is not yet in mood to crack the whip on the former Indian opening batsman considering India’s World Cup win, and the No 1 Test status for two years, which could go in his defence.
