Myburgh scores second fastest T20I fifty

Mar 21, 2014
Netherlands opening batsman Stephan Myburgh has entered the record books scoring the second fastest fifty in T20s and international cricket. Myburgh went ballistic against Ireland in the final match of the Group B Round One encounter of the ICC World t20 2014. Myburgh came close to Yuvraj’s record of 12-ball fifty when he was on 44 from the same number of deliveries.
Chasing 190 in 14.1 overs to qualify for the main draw of the T20 World Cup, Myburgh and Peter Borren let themselves loose. In the second over of the match, spinner Andy McBrine was smashed for four sixes with Myburgh clobbering three of those. The six-hitting spree continued with Myburgh smashing three more sixes in the fourth over Alex Cussack.
Myburgh raced up to 48 in 15 ball and got to his fifty in the fifth over of the match. He was eventually dismissed for 63 in just 23 balls which included four boundaries and seven sixes.
