Steve Smith: Bumrah Sets the Standard as Cricket’s Top Fast Bowler

Before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, veteran Australian batsman Steve Smith praised Jasprit Bumrah, describing the Indian as maybe the best fast bowler in all forms.

On November 22, the five-Test series between Australia and India kicks off in Perth. The last two series in Australia have been won by India. Australia would largely rely on Bumrah’s unique skills if India manages a three-peat.

“Whether I’m playing with the new ball, the somewhat older ball, or even the old ball, he’s an amazing bowler. He’s really skilled at each of them. He is a fantastic bowler and is possibly the finest fast bowler in all three formats. There will always be difficulty, Smith said to Star Sports.

The 35-year-old is anticipated to begin against India, as he has done for Australia in the last two series.

Smith, who has played in 109 Test matches, is probably going to surpass the 10,000 run mark in this highly anticipated series after scoring 9685 runs thus far.

In contrast, Bumrah has excelled since making his Test debut in January 2018, amassing 164 wickets at an average of 20.51 in 37 matches.
