Retired South African international Morne Morkel believes the return of Steve Smith and David Warner – after their one-year ban for ball-tampering – will add a bit of spice to the upcoming 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. (ALSO READ: Ponting looking forward to Smith, Warner s return)

“It will be great to see him and Steve (Smith) play and it will be great for Australia as well. said Morkel ,as quoted by the Cricketer. Morkel is currently in Sydney, training with the New South Wales team and met Warner for the first time since the ball-tampering saga unfolded in the South Africa in 2018.

“It’s the first time I’ve seen Davey since South Africa,” Morkel told reporters at the SCG nets. “Obviously as a cricket supporter I’m rapt for him to get back on the field.

Saying that Warner was always a tough customer to deal with during his international days, the Surrey bowler also wished Warner a speedy recovery, who underwent a an elbow surgery late last year.

“[Warner] is a world class player. Against him, as a bowler I always felt under pressure.

“You needed to be on the money from the word go and they’re the sort of guys you want in your team.

“Players who have that x-factor to take the game away from you. There’s no doubt in my mind that when he’s fit and ready he will be back for Australia.

“I just hope they can get fit as quick as possible and get ready for that World Cup, added Morkel.
