Australia’s star batter Steve smith achieved a massive feat in the first Test match against Sri Lanka. He became the Test cricketer from Australia to score 10,000 runs. Smith achieved this feat in the first innings at the Galle International Stadium against Sri Lanka.
Steve Smith became the fourth ever Test cricketer from Australia to have achieved this feat in the longest format of the game. He could have reached this feat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against India, but missed out by just 1 run, but now his dream is complete.
As he scored his very first run against Sri Lanka on the first Day of the first Test, Australia’s seasoned batter Steve Smith completed this feat. With this achievement, Smith joined the elite group of Ricky Ponting (13,378), Allen Border (11,174), and Steve Wan (10,927). Along with that, he became the 15th batter to have scored 10,000 runs in Test cricket.
Steve Smith, according to innings, has become the second-fastest Test cricketer to have scored more than 10,000 runs. Legend Ricky Ponting was the fastest player, who reached this feat in 196th inning. Smith achieved his achievement in 205th inning.
