India have gotten rid of the in form Australian skipper Steven Smith for a 45-ball 41 and it was Ravindra Jadeja who got the key wicket. It was a great delivery by Jadeja; he angled it in to pitch it on a fullish length on the line of off stump from where it held the line and got extra bounce to get Smith’s edge to first slip where Ajinkya Rahane took the dolly easily. India will be elated to get the opposition skipper but  Australia still have the edge at this stage. The ever-smiling George Bailey is the new man in and he has been in amazing form. Australia have lost just two wickets so far. Shaun Marsh has been sedate at one end and got past his fifty soon after Smith’s dismissal. Aaron Finch was the first wicket to fall playing a lazy shot to an away-swinging delivery by Umesh Yadav. Smith and Marsh then staged a sizable partnership before Smith was removed by Jadeja. Bailey will now look to continue his good form. LIVE UPDATES: India vs Australia 2015-16, 3rd ODI at MCG

Earlier India scored 295 for six in their stipulated fifty overs. The innings’ hero was Virat Kohli who scored 117 runs at a strike-rate of 100. He’s effort was helped by half centuries from Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane. The Australian bowlers did well in the death following up from their great effort in the second ODI at Brisbane. India have failed to defend over 300 runs in the first two matches and defending 295 will hence be more daunting. But, there is greater assistance for the bowlers off the pitch at MCG. They’ll look to restrict the confident Australian batsmen.
