Stuart Binny will join the Indian squad in Sri Lanka ahead of the second Test of the ongoing three-match series. India are currently 0-1 down in the series following their humiliating loss at Galle. No official word has been given on the reason why he is joining. The second Test will be played between August 20 to 24 at P Sara Oval, Colombo. “All-rounder Stuart Binny will join the Indian team before the second match of the three-match Test series in Sri Lanka,” BCCI said in a statement. However, the board didn’t inform about any injury and Binny will be the 16th member of the side. Opening batsman Murali Vijay, who missed the first Test due to with a hamstring niggle, is expected to return for the second Test starting in Colombo on Thursday. READ: India’s inability to finish Tests is worrying

Binny, who has played three Tests so far, adds more balance to the squad. Captain Virat Kohli had played five bowlers in the first Test and it backfired as they crashed to a humiliating 63-run loss.  They were chasing 176 in the fourth innings but were bowled out for 112 on the fourth day on Saturday. Earlier in the day ICC announced the latest rankings for the Test cricketers. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has moved three places to ninth in the ICC Test Rankings for bowlers, while Shikhar Dhawan vaulted 15 places to a career-high 32nd in the rankings for batsmen, despite India losing the opening Test match against Sri Lanka by 63 runs in Galle.
