Stuart Broad, England s vice-captain is the latest addition to the injury list in the England dressing room. Having bowled only 10 overs in day two against Mumbai A in their second warm up game at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Broad trotted off the field for a few overs post tea.

England had to toil hard in the field against Mumbai A with Hiken Shah and Cheteshwar Pujara, when they added 163 runs for the third wicket. The English bowlers had to work hard to wrap up the Mumbai batsmen. The Mumbai A team was all out in the end for 286 but, not before making the English bowl a total of 101.4 overs. England already has problems in the bowling department as Stuart Meaker is being called up as back up for the injured Steve Finn.

A statement released by the ECB stated, “Stuart felt discomfort late on in today s play and has gone for a scan.” Broad was taken for a scan at the end of the day, the results of which will be known on
Monday. With the first test starting on Tuesday, England need to sure up their bowling attack in the next few days. If Broad s injury rules him out of the first test in Ahmedabad, England might be forced have to go in with another specialist spinner to partner Graeme Swann in attack.

This would most likely be Monty Panesar who had a good time out in the middle picking up 3 for 64 off his 28 overs. But, going in with two specialist spinners doesn t suit England too well. England however, has to look to plan B for the first at least if Broad s injury turns out to be a serious one.
