Gavaskar urged BCCI to continue IPL without DJ

Cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to resume the currently suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 without there being any DJ and cheer girls in order to pay respect to the families who lose their loved ones during ‘Operation Sindoor’.

The BCCI had decided to suspend the IPL 2025 midway because of military tensions rising at the border between India and Pakistan. As the ceasefire has been announced, the cricket board has announced for the tournament to continue May 17.

In a conversation with Sports Tak, cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar requested the BCCI to hold the remaining matches of the IPL while their not being any songs played on the DJ and without any cheerleaders.

“I think it is the last 15 or 16 games. I would sincerely hope, because of what has happened and some families have lost their near and dear ones, I would like that there is no music,” Gavaskar told Sports Tak.

“Let’s just have a tournament, the balance of a tournament. It’s just no dancing girls, nothing. Just cricket would be a really nice way to respect the sentiment of the families who have lost their near and dear ones,” he added.

According to the new schedule announced by BCCI, 17 matches are to be played in the remainder of the tournament, which will be held among six venues. The revised schedule also has two double headers- both to be played on Sundays.
