SRH earlier won the toss and elected to bat, with Trent Boult, Bipul Sharma and KL Rahul coming in place of Ravi Bopara, Parvez Rasool and Praveen Kumar, who was terrible in the last match against Delhi Daredevils (DD). KXIP, on the other hand, opted for the same playing eleven as the one in their previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Live Scorecard: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kings XI Punjab at Hyderabad
SRH were off to a flying start, courtesy some hard-hitting at the start of the innings. Anureet Singh conceded 14 runs off the second over of the innings, including two fours and a six. This was followed by a some more big-hitting, as the fifty partnership was completed in just five overs. Dhawan had scored 24 runs off 17 balls, before Glenn Maxwell got him stumped off his first ball of the match after Dhawan came down the track in order to play the delivery towards extra cover. Warner kept the party going despite the first blow. Upon reaching the score of 38 off 27 balls, he won the Orange Cap back from Ajinkya Rahane, with whom he has been having a tug-of-war for the accolade in the ongoing edition of the IPL. He brought up his sixth fifty of the ongoing tournament in 36 deliveries, completing 1,000 runs for SRH in the process. IPL 2015: Points Table and Team Standings
Moises Henriques hit four boundaries during his stay at the crease, reaching a score of 28, before holing out a catch to Anureet at deep square-leg while attempting to clear the boundary. At 121 for two in the 14th over, SRH were still in their way towards a major total. England ODI skipper Eoin Morgan failed to score off the first ball, before smashing two sixes and a four off the next three deliveries to announce himself at the crease. He could not stretch his entertaining cameo to a major score however, as he was dismissed for a score of 17 off seven balls. IPL 2015: Schedule with venue details
Warner once again failed to bring up his century in the eighth edition of the IPL, getting dismissed for 81 off 52 balls while playing a half-hearted shot off the bowling of Hendricks. The captain’s dismissal was followed by Naman Ojha getting run-out the very next ball. Some late-hitting towards the death overs by Rahul and Karn saw the home side finish on a competitive total.
It was a disappointing display by the KXIP bowlers, who bowled loose deliveries for most part of the innings, allowing Warner and co. to attack them freely, with Sandeep Sharma ending up as the only bowler to have an economy below nine.
Brief scores:
Sunrisers Hyderabad 185 for 5 in 20 overs (David Warner 81, Shikhar Dhawan 24, Moises Henriques 28; Beuran Hendricks 2 for 40) vs Kings XI Punjab.
