Mystery spinner KC Cariappa pocketed four wickets, while fast bowler V Koushik added another three as Karnataka skittled Odisha for 104 and raced away to 51-run victory in a Group D Round 6 match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali 2019 trophy.

Chasing a challenging 156 at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha struggled to get going. They soon slipped to 40/5 inside the first 10 overs. Suryakant Pradhan tried engaged in a reargued effort, but his 17-ball 32 which included three boundaries and two sixes was received with no support from the other end. Cariappa returned with brilliant figures of 4/15 in his four overs, while Koushik went for just 8 in his 2.1 overs.

Earlier, after asked to bat, Karnataka have opener Rohan Kadam to thank after his 89 helped the visiting side to a healthy total. With as many as six players departing with single-digit scores and the next highest score coming jointly from Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair, who scored 10, Kadam’s knock was worthy of high praise.

With their sixth win from as many games, Karnataka lead Group D with 24 points, while Odisha, who record their third loss, are at the sixth spot of the eight-team group.
