Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019 Group E Round 7

Uttar Pradesh joined Maharashtra in the Super League stage of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019 after their final round match against Baroda was washed out due to rain.

Both the teams were awarded two points each which pushed Uttar Pradesh to the top of points table with 22 points. They were on equal terms with Maharashtra but pipped them on superior net run-rate.

Baroda opted to bat at the Palam A Stadium and their opening pair led a solid start. Captain Kedar Devdhar opened the innings with debutant Pratyush Kumar and added 54 runs in 7.4 overs.

Pratyush was run out off the fifth delivery of eighth over with his maiden T20 innings resulting in 24 runs off 28. Devdhar joined him in the dressing room soon as he holed out to Samarth Singh in the following over after hitting 28 off 21 with two fours and a six.

That brought together Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan and they had taken the score to 76/2 in 12.1 overs when the play was stopped on account of rain before eventually being called off.

Hooda remained unbeaten on 9 while Yusuf was batting on 10.

Baroda finished the Group E at fifth spot with three wins and as many defeats.
