T20 Blind World Cup: India rout Australia by 124 runs

Kochi: Continuing their imperious form in the ongoing T20 World Cup for the Blind, defending champions India registered their sixth win of the event, thrashing Australia by 124 runs at the Rajagiri College Ground on Sunday. Chasing target of 273, Australia were bundled out for 144 in 18.3 overs. For Australia, Daniel James Pritchard (B2) was the top scorer with 32, followed by Matthew James Cameron (B2) (27) and Ned Adam Charles Brewer Maiga (B3) (19). Earlier, after being asked to bat first, India rode on the master class of Sunil (B3), who scored a brilliant knock of 163 runs off just 72, which included 29 fours. He was well supported by Muhammed Farhan (B2) who got retired hurt at his individual score of 53. The Ajay Kumar Reddy side will next face New Zealand on February 7 at KIIT Stadium, Bhubaneswar. Earlier, India registered their fourth win in the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup for the Blind as the hosts trounced South Africa by nine wickets at the MCA BKC Ground here on Friday. Chasing a decent 158, the hosts rode on brilliant half centuries from Muhammed Farhan (59) and Jafar Iqbal (54) to romp home in just 13.5 overs. Farhan’s explosive innings came off just 35 balls and was laced with nine boundaries and a six while Iqbal was equally merciless to the Africans, consuming just 39 balls with a boundary to his name, reported IANS.
Durga Rao’s 11-ball 19, including 3 boundaries was equally vital to the host’s win. Earlier, electing to bat after winning the toss, the visitors scored 157/8 in their 20 overs. David Landry top-scored for the South Africans with an unbeaten 41-ball 42, added IANS.
