Australia Women spinners were successful in restricting Ireland Women to 91 for 7 at the end of 20 overs of Match 16 of T20 Women’s World Cup 2016 at Delhi. It was Megan Schutt who gave the first breakthrough for Australia with wicket of Clare Shellington, starting the innings with blistering shots in every over. Australia gained the momentum when Rene Farrell also joined the league by grabbing 2 for 11 in 4 overs. Ireland were moving at rate of 9 per over and once Clare was out, the rate dropped and target achievable was just 100. Excellent field work by the team mates especially Elyssa Villani and Jess Jonasen with those qucik run outs. Part one of the job done for Australia – now they’ll want to get these runs quickly. Australia won the toss and elected to field first. Ireland started opened the account with Clare and Cecelia Joyce. Lauren Cheatle was at her best with a maiden over as she opened the attack for Australia. Clare and Cecelia secured 33-runs 1st wicket partnership for Ireland vbefore Clare made her way out. Soon Kim Grath joined Cecelia and they secured 18-runs stand when Ireland were 54 for 2. Slowly the wickets started crumbling and runs were contributed by every batter. Ireland skipper also could not stay longer on crease with just 8 from 13, looking to find the perfect delivery and shot, but was found struggling.

Australia with a victory will be one-inch closer to a spot in the final four, where as Ireland are already out of the tournament with three consecutive defeats in the innings so far. If Australia win, they will proceed further and as per the next match on Saturday either South Africa or New Zealand have chance to go ahead for second spot in semi-final.
