New Zealand will be up against Ireland in the Match 5  of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2016 on Friday. The match will be played at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali and will begin at 3:30 PM IST. New Zealand came close to winning the Women’s T20 World Cup but couldn’t cross the line as they came runners-up in the years 2009 and 2010. Ireland with Isobel Joyce as their captain come into the tournament after winning the qualifiers for the tournament in Bangkok, beating Bangladesh Women in a last-ball thriller. New Zealand on the other hand, will be lead by their experienced captain Suzie Bates who has the highest runs in T20Is with 1944 runs with a strike rate of 106.75. New Zealand convincingly beat Sri Lankan Women by 7-wickets in their first match of the competition chasing a target of 111 runs. Suzie Bates again, was declared the Player of the Match. New Zealand and Ireland are part of Group A which also has 3-times champions Australia and South Africa, apart from Sri Lanka and Ireland.

Ireland though will be looking to cause an upset and keep their hopes high after successfully qualifying for the tournament. “We’ve a tough game first up against New Zealand, but the squad has been training together right through the winter and with three warm-ups against India, Bangladesh and Pakistan lined-up, we’ll be ready to hit the ground running”, said Head Coach Aaron Hamilton.
