India’s Virat Kohli, who almost single-handedly led the Indian chase match after match in the World Twenty20, was adjudged the man of the tournament after the final here on Sunday. Kohli amassed 273 runs in the tournament, that included three half-centuries. Having remained not out thrice, he averaged an astounding 136.50. The run of scores were 23, 55 not out, 24, 82 not out and 89 not out. But more than the quantity of runs, what stood out was the circumstances in which he played the big knocks. The under-pressure batting performances have not only made the spectators wonderstruck, but also earned plaudits from the experts. Kohli though was not present to receive the award. Meanwhile, West Indies beat England in the finals of the T20 World Cup 2016 by 4 wickets, to win their second T20 trophy. Marlon Samuels was the Man of the match as he made 85 off 66 in a superb knock to take his side closer to victory. England had set a target of 156 runs and West Indies lost 3 early wickets in the run chase. With 19 needed off the last over, Ben Stokes was smashed for 4 consecutive sixes by Carlos Brathwaite to seal an absolutely amazing win for the West Indies.
