Tamil Nadu gained six points, including a bonus, after they beat Maharashtra by an innings and 70 runs on the third and final day of their Elite-A under-22 match for the C.K.Nayudu Trophy on Sunday.

Maharashtra, who were 116 for four overnight, were all out for 191 in 58.4 overs. With a deficit of 381 runs, Maharashtra were forced to follow on and were all out for 311 in their second innings.

Tamil Nadu’s c claimed seven for 126.

In Maharashtra’s second innings, openers Swapnil Gugale scored 54 while Avadhoot Dhandekar made 71.

Maharashtra tailenders Sunil Yadav struck an unbeaten 47 and Jitendra Patil scored a 24-ball 28 to delay the inevitable.

Tamil Nadu had declared their first innings at 572 for seven.(PTI)
