Team India arrives in England for five-match Test series, players seen in cheerful mood ahead of opening match

The Indian cricket team has arrived in England for the upcoming five-match Test series, which is part of the 2025–27 ICC World Test Championship cycle. The squad departed from Mumbai on Friday night to begin their tour of Britain.

Newly appointed captain Shubman Gill will lead the Indian team, which will be the beginning of a new era after the recent retirement of veterans like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Several Indian players have already reached England as part of the India A team.

In a video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on X, Sai Sudarshan, who was included in the Test team for the first time, said, It feels good to be a part of the Indian cricket team, especially for the Test series, welcome to the UK.

The first Test will be played in Leeds from June 20. After this, matches will be played in Birmingham (2-6 July), Lord’s (10-14 July), Manchester (23-27 July) and Oval (4-8 August).

India will start the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle with the England series. Team India reached the finals in the first two seasons of the World Test Championship, but was unable to make it to the finals of the third cycle.
