The interview to select the next India coach will be held on July 10 in Mumbai, former India captain Sourav Ganguly who is also part of the three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) said here on Saturday. “The interview will be held on the 10th of this month in Mumbai,” Ganguly told reporters on the sidelines of a Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) meeting. Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Lalchand Rajput, Richard Pybus, Dodda Ganesh, Ravi Shastri and Venkatesh Prasad have applied for the post vacated by Anil Kumble last month. One of the three members of the CAC that has the power to pick the coach, Ganguly stated earlier that, “The matter between Kumble and Kohli should have been handled a lot better, by whoever in charge. It was not handled properly.”
It was earlier reported that he CoA has officially expressed its displeasure over the BCCI not informing it about the decision to invite fresh applications for the position of coach after the withdrawal of Kumble, a report published in the Indian Express has confirmed. According to the report, at a meeting last week in Mumbai, the CoA — Vinod Rai, Vikram Limaye and Diana Edulji — questioned BCCI CEO Rahul Johri as to why they were not kept in the loop while inviting fresh applications for the role and why there was even a need to do so in the first place.
