The Indian cricket team missed out on attending the LG ICC Awards ceremony in London as the cricket s premier body failed to invite the team even till Monday afternoon.

The Times of India reported that by the time ICC called up to invite Team India; the players had already made their plans for the evening. A few of them were not even available to receive the message.

Sources informed that the ICC was keen on MS Dhoni s presence also one of the nominees in the function. Later, it was learnt that the Indian captain was not even available over the phone.

An ICC official said, “He must be coming.”

The officials from ICC later said they had sent the invitation to BCCI well in time.

“We were not told about the awards ceremony till Sunday. By the time we got a call from the ICC, it was too late. We have already made our plans for the day,” said an Indian cricketer.

It is a general practice that all nominated players are invited in the awards ceremony. Also, the teams playing any series at the time of the awards – in this case England and India are also invited.

The entire England team was present at the event.
