Smarting from a nail-biting defeat at the hands of South Africa in their fifth World Cup game at Nagpur, Team India sprang a surprise when they did not turn up for a scheduled practice session at the IIT campus ground in Chennai on Tuesday.

Sources close to the Indian team refused to give out reasons on why the team choose to give the scheduled training session a miss.

Most of the team members, barring Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir arrived in Chennai on Monday night from Nagpur while team coach Gary Kirsten joined the squad on Tuesday.

It is also learnt that even transport arrangements were made for the media to commute from Chepauk to the IIT grounds where the practice sessions were scheduled.
