In an unfortunate incident in Andhra Pradesh, a teenager named Sandeep Kumar was beaten to death with a cricket bat. The mishap took place in a town called Tanuku on Friday evening. When taken to the Tanuku government hospital, he was declared dead by the doctors. Harischandra Prasad, the 19 year-old culprit, was taken into custody after Sandeep’s father filed a case against Prasad under section 302 of the IPC for murder. However, after the post mortem, Sandeep’s body was handed to his family on Saturday. A similar incident, over a dispute while playing cricket, was witnessed in Vijaywada last month.

Prasad, a vegetable vendor, asked Sandeep whether he can join his friends. However, as they were halfway through the game, Sandeep refused to let Prasad participate. This triggered an argument between the two, and Prasad snatched the bat from Sandeep’s hand and hit him on his head. That very blow made Sandeep unconscious. It was later reported that Sandeep had severe injuries on his head.

“As the match already started, Sandeep refused to take him in the middle of the game. Prasad did not take the refusal well. He got angry and they had a heated argument,” said Inspector Srinivas Rao as reported by thenewsminute.com.

“Prasad has been taken into custody,” Inspector added.

Sandeep was a 17-year-old SSC student who sister and father stayed with him while his mother worked in Singapore.
