Test cricket will survive: Jacques Faul

Cricket South Africa (CSA) still regards Test cricket as being very important amid the various short forms of the game, says acting chief executive of the board Jacques Faul.
Faul, said Test cricket was unique and pointed out that the format was an “educational tool” for both young and old.
“One only has to look at the individual achievements of the Proteas (in England recently) when Hashim Amla’s treble century managed to dominate the media headlines at a time when London was about to host the world’s biggest sporting festival, the Olympic Games,” Faul said, adding that Amla’s bat manufacturer has also brought out a special edition bat to mark the occasion.
“Test cricket is truly unique in that way, it allows for individual achievement of this magnitude but at the same time never loses its team ethos and as such it is a wonderful educational tool for both young and old,” the chief said. (PTI)
