The IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala was called out following a balckout in the city. The official reason for match suspension given by the broadcasters was ‘technical failure’ but later the IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said to news agency IANS, “Yes, the match has been called off as a precautionary step, because there are some incidents which happened in Jammu, I believe. That’s what we got to know, so we thought it’s wise to call off the game.”

According to a report by The Indian Expres there was ‘some panic’ after the match was suspended. At approximately 9:20 pm, one of the floodlight towers shut down, prompting the evacuation of spectators. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal was spotted signaling to the crowd to exit the stadium calmly.

“We were told about attacks in nearby Pathankot. We are asked to go back to the hotel immediately. There was some panic… Delhi Capitals were seated in the Punjab team bus and vice-versa. We wanted to go out but there was a huge crowd. The foreign players were worried, with many of them wanting to return home.” The reporter said.

He also quoted that the match between PBKS and DC was suspended by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association after getting a call from higher cricket authorities.

Amid rising military tensions between India and Pakistan, the BCCI has suspended the IPL 2025 season indefinitely following an emergency meeting held on Friday, according to sources quoted by IANS.
