Tiger Pataudi was very fond of music. His interest in music was mainly Indian classical both vocal and instrumental. His interests in vocal were in ghazals and thumris.

And any mention of ghazal stirs memories of the great compositions of music director Madan Mohan and his the epic songs sung by melody queen Lata Mangeshkar.

Among the hordes of Madan Mohan fans was Tiger Pataudi. In fact, the late music director would attend all Test matches in Mumbai when Pataudi played at the Brabourne Stadium.

Pataudi, on his part, would attend the recordings of Madan Mohan.
