Tight security for IPL matches in Indore

Madhya Pradesh police will deploy 2,500 police personnel at different levels for providing foolproof security during the two IPL matches in Indore.

The police has also softened its stand on the issue of charging Rs 74 lakh for providing security during the two matches, to be played here on Friday and on May 15.

Skirting the issue of payment, Additional Superintendent of Police Mahesh Chandra Jain said, “Our first priority is to provide foolproof security for the IPL matches and organise the event in a peaceful and secured manner.”

He said that a bill of Rs 74.26 lakh was given to organiser Kochi Tuskers Kerala as per the guidelines of the state home department and so far, they have not deposited the amount with the state treasury.

Earlier, Inspector General (IG) of Police, Indore range, Sanjay Rana said that KTK had to deposit the fee for availing security during the matches, failing which the police will consider withdrawing from the match duties.

KTK will play its first match at Indore’s Holkar stadium against Kings XI Punjab and second against Rajasthan Royals.
