Punjab King (PBKS) youngster Nehal Wadhera has accepted that he made a massive mistake that led to his team losing in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Punjab Kings showed a great game in IPL 2025 under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer and the team made it to the finals after 11 years, but the team missed out on the title-deciding match. Punjab Kings batters disappointed in this clash. Nehal Wadhera has blamed himself for this defeat of Punjab Kings.

Nehal Wadhera came in when the game was in a balanced state with the scoreboard being at 79/3 in 9.4 overs, and Punjab Kings were at the point of the game from where they could have easily beat RCB if the team had not lost any important wickets. However, he could not manage what he might have wished while coming out, and succumbed to a non-impressive knock.

The explosive left-handed batter fumbled during the title-deciding clash, as he scored a slow 18-ball-15 while Punjab Kings were chasing a score of 191. The team eventually failed to complete their target and lost the match by 6 runs.

“I totally blame myself. If I had played better at that time, we could have definitely won. I won’t blame the pitch because RCB scored 190 runs. I think I was just taking the game deep, and I believe in finishing games by taking it deep. I think this was one of those days when I couldn’t finish the game. When I had to accelerate in all the tournaments, whenever I accelerated, I think it paid off except for the last game.” Wadhera said while speaking with Hindustan Times.

Nehal Wadhera was seen in form in IPL 2025. He scored 369 runs in 15 innings of 16 matches this season. He also has two half-centuries to his name. He batted at a strike rate of 145.84 in IPL 2025.
