Trent Boult registered his best ODI figures and Henry Nicholls his highest ODI score as New Zealand thrashed West Indies by a massive 204 runs to take the series 2-0 at Christchurch. West Indies batters had no answer to Boult s accuracy and Lockie Ferguson s express pace as West Indies lost their fourth match on this tour. They have played as many games. Boult registered the second-best figures for a Kiwi bowler in ODIs. His 7 for 34 falls a run short of Tim Southee s 7 for 33 against England in 2015 World Cup.

Boult nailed down West Indies top order while Ferguson plucked out the middle with 3 wickets in 10 deliveries. He got Jason Mohammed and Rovman Powell with successive balls.

Put into bat, New Zealand were off to a brisk start. George Worker slammed a 53-ball 58 while Colin Munro got a brisk 30. Ross Taylor stabilised the innings with a steady 57. Tom Latham, the stand-in New Zealand skipper, was out for 20. New Zealand were in a spot of bother when Taylor fell to Jason Holder. New Zealand had lost half their side for 186 in the 33rd over.

Nicholls teamed up with Todd Astle to breeze to a 130-run stand off 98 balls. Nicholl s 62-ball 83 not out is his highest ODI score. Astle playing his second ODI slammed his career-best. He fell in the final over for a well-made 49 off 45 balls.

Chris Gayle was ruled out due to an injury before the match. The final ODI will be played at the same venue on the Boxing Day (December 26).
