Rishabh Pant went bonkers in Delhi Daredevils’ (DD) tall chase versus Gujarat Lions (GL) in match 42 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 10. Chasing 209, DD lost stand-in skipper Karun Nair early but Pant and Sanju Samson laid the foundation for solid comeback and put the opposition on the mat with their aggressive innings. The two added a breath taking 142-run stand in a mere 63 balls for the second wicket and guided the home side to a comfortable 7-wicket victory in process. DD thus also stayed in contention for the playoffs with 4 wins from 10 games. This was the highest score by teenager, in IPL history as well. Pant walked out to bat at No. 3. What ensued was absolute carnage, as two bright young talents of Indian cricket, Samson and Pant, took centrestage and made mockery of the steep target. Pant opened his account with a six and made his intentions clear. He was in a punishing mode especially against the likes of Pradeep Sangwan and James Faulkner, striking them at 283 and 260 respectively.

Corey Anderson and Shreyas Iyer put the final nails in the coffin by adding an unbeaten 35 to ensure their side went past the finish line with 15 balls remaining. DD, with 20 sixes, registered their highest-ever chase in IPL and will be upbeat going into the back end of the season.
