He ran through the oppositionâs tail through three consecutive deliveries in the first innings and then took another wicket with his first ball in the second to complete the double hat-trick. Howard is only 20-years-old and he ended the competition with impressive bowling figures of 8 for 43 which includes his double hat-trick. âI didnât realise it was special until a teammate mentioned it to me. Itâs definitely something Iâm proud of. Iâve been playing cricket for about 11 years, but that was only at school. This is my first ever year of club cricket. A good friend of mine I played with at Cranbrook with is a big part of the club at UNSW, and he encouraged me to come along this season.â
Meanwhile, Sydney Grade Cricket competition manager Ray Formica said, âThis competition has been going for more than 100 years and I canât think of many who have done it. The club selectors should be looking at him now for promotion, because thatâs the sort of form that could lead to promotion.â Talking of international cricket, only Lasith Malinga has succeeded in taking four wickets in four consecutive balls in one day internationals. He had picked up the wickets of Shaun Pollock, Andrew Hall, Jacques Kallis and Makhaya Ntini in ICC Cricket World Cup 2007.
