Eleven uncapped players have been selected in the 30-man squad selected for a USA selection camp. The news was broken by the new selection panel chairman Ricardo Powell and ICC Americas consultant Tom Evans on Friday evening. The players will participate in a camp at Florida which has been scheduled to begin at the end of July. The camp will help the selection panel to pick a 14-man squad for ICC WCL Division Four to be played in Los Angeles this October. The omission of former USA skipper Steve Massiah however raised questions at the selection panel’s decision. Massiah is USA’s all-time top run scorer in the 50-over format. According to ESPNCricinfo, Evans has suggested that they are confident about their brave selection. “It doesn’t really matter to us who has played and who hasn’t before. It’s exciting when you find talent that you might not have known about previously,” he said.

The uncapped players include pacer Ali Khan. He recently grabbed a contract with Guyana Amazon Warriors for this season of Caribbean Premier League. He was included in an ICC Americas combined team this past January. The former USA Under-19 players Prashanth Nair and Nisarg Patel have also been included in the 30-man squad for the camp. Nisarg was included in the squad for the ICC Americas Division One T20 championship in 2015 in Indianapolis but was ruled ineligible after it was determined he failed to meet residency criteria.

With the exception of Khan, Taylor and Timroy Allen, who are taking part in the CPL, the rest of the USA 30-man group will fly to Florida on July 27 for the camp.
