USA qualify for ICC World T20 Qualifiers 2015

The United States of America (USA) qualified for the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2015 after beating Suriname by eight wickets during their ICC Americas Region Division One Twenty20 match at Indianapolis on Friday. USA skittled Suriname out for 106 in 20 overs, before the USA chased the target with 10 balls to spare.

According to a report on ESPNcricinfo, Timil Patel starred for the Americans with the ball, capturing four wickets for just 13 runs. USA won the toss and put the opposition to bat. Suriname were looking steady at 71 for two in the 12th over, before Patel’s decisive bowling restricted them to 106. USA, in reply, rode on Fahad Babar’s 43 not out to reach home safely.

USA went on to lose the tournament final to Canada by 23 runs to finish runners-up. The position however, was enough to guarantee them a spot in the Qualifiers, that is to be hosted by Ireland and Scotland and is scheduled to start on July 6.
