After Mitchell Starc, Usman Khawaja has given Australia another injury headache as he stayed away from the field during the opening session of Day 3 of the second Test against Pakistan currently underway in Abu Dhabi.

Khawaja reportedly tweaked his knee during a warm-up session – the same knee which sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament in 2014. Khawaja. who scored a century in the opening Test in Dubai that sealed a thrilling draw for Australia, was expected to miss a couple of overs but didn’t take field for the entire session.

This comes after Peter Siddle has been added to Australia’s T20I squad for the matches against Pakistan following Starc’s latest hamstring concern.

Starc did not bowl in the final session on day two and also in the morning session on day three after taking a wicket in his first four overs during Pakistan’s second innings. He was placed in the slips as Australia were seen attempting to keep him fresh after he spent some time off the field.

Starc’s participation in the rest of the second Test is not set to be hampered, but with three T20Is versus Pakistan in the UAE the Australian selectors have decided to add Siddle as cover.
