Usman Khawaja has a reputation of being a fun-loving and witty character, so when his Indian Premier League (IPL) team Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) made a blooper he was quick to point it out on Twitter. Khawaja, who has been roped in as a replacement for the injured Kevin Pietersen in the RPS team, made his IPL debut when he turned up for Match 33 of IPL 9 between Rising Pune Supergiants and Delhi Daredevils (DD). Khawaja had an impressive start to his IPL career by scoring a vital 30 off 27 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. His inclusion seemed to be a lucky charm for RPS, who managed to beat DD by 7 wickets to bring up only their third win in IPL 2016. Live Cricket Scorecard: Delhi Daredevils vs Rising Pune Supergiants, IPL 2016, Match 33 at Delhi

Khawaja, whose Twitter handle is @Uz_Khawaja, tweeted a picture of his new IPL jersey pointing out the mis-spelling of his surname. Khawaja wrote “Looks like Pune were expecting ‘Khwaja’ to come play. I better go home. #typo #pune #IPL #india #cricket #delhi” after his name was printed missing an ‘a’ in his RPS jersey. Khawaja’s name was spelled ‘Khwaja’ instead. Khwaja has been in excellent form in 2016 across formats. Khawaja averaged well over 100 in the Big Bash League 2015-16 and went on to have an excellent run for Australia in Test, One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket since then. READ: Ajinkya Rahane’s half-century take Rising Pune Supergiants past Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2016

Khawaja and George Bailey have been called up as replacements for Pietersen and Faf du Plessis. However, RPS also suffered another injury, with in-form batsman Steven Smith pulling out of the tournament as well with a wrist injury. It was announced that RPS would consider another replacement in the next few days.
