Khaled Mahmud steps down as BCB director after serving for 11 years
According to ESPNCricinfo, former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mahmud, who participated in 77 ODIs and 12 Test matches, has resigned from his role as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). His eleven-year term on the board comes to an end with this. Mahmud resigned by email, and BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury attested to it.
After Ahmed Sajjadul Alam was removed and Jalal Yunus and Naimur Rahman left, Mahmud tendered his resignation. Mahmud held important positions at the BCB, including vice-chairman of cricket operations and chairman of game development. He spent eighteen years working for the BCB.
Mahmud began working as a coach and administrator after quitting international cricket in 2006. In addition to being the assistant coach and team manager for Bangladesh, he was elected to the board in 2013. Mahmud was also a coach in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Following Chandika Hathurusinghe’s departure in 2017, he served as technical director, a selector, and a pivotal figure in the development of the national squad. Mahmud was team director for the 2023 Cricket World Cup as well as the interim coach for the 2019 ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Mahmud is acknowledged for his role in Bangladesh’s 2020 U19 World Cup triumph. Additionally, he coached Abahani Limited to multiple DPL victories, including in the 2023–24 season, and led Dhaka Dynamites to a BPL title in 2016.
