New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has said that the injury sustained by regular captain Daniel Vettori during their World Cup Group A match against Pakistan, is not serious and that he should be back on the field soon.

Taylor, whose fine century set up their big win over Pakistan, said that the Black Caps need him for the upcoming matches. “It is just a bit of jarring (on his knee). He should be fine. We’ll know it in the next couple of days. He is such an important member of the side and we need him in the tournament,” Taylor told reporters in Pallekele.

New Zealand’s next two games are against Canada and Sri Lanka on March 13 and 18 respectively. Both the matches would be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
