A dazzling unbeaten double ton by Vinayak Samant was the sole attraction of the drawn match between Tripura and Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy Plate group A on Friday.

 

Resuming from their overnight score of 99 for 4 at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Stadium, Tripura declared their second innings at 433 for 8 on the last day when Vinayak reached his career best 200.

 

The 39-year-old Vinayak, who was unbeaten at 33 on Thursday, faced 248 deliveries to score his double ton, which contained 21 hits to the fence during his 403-minute stay at the crease.

 

Besides Mani Singh (38) and skipper Timir Chanda (34), Vinayak was ably supported by lower-order batsman Tushar Saha (56, 4×9, 6×1). Vinayak and Saha stitched together 123-run partnership for the ninth wicket.

 

For Vidarbha, Sandeep Singh, Shreekant Wagh and Amol Jungade took two wickets each.

 

After Tripura declared, Vidarbha scored 17 for no loss in their second innings.

 

By virtue of their first innings lead, Vidrabha bagged three points and Tripura managed only one point.
