In 48th Match of Indian Premier League, IPL 2016, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) took on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Eden gardens, Kolkata on Monday. Batting first KKR posted a healthy total of 183 for 5 in 20 overs but RCB chased the target with ease thanks to the duo of Virat Kolhi-AB De Villiers. The RCB duo put on an unbeaten 115* runs partnership for the second wicket to take their side to the winning total. Virat Kolhi was adjudged man-of-the-match for his innings of 75 off 51 balls. Royal Challengers Bangalore remained alive in the tournament with this win against two-time winning champions, KKR.  FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, IPL 2016, Match 48 at Kolkata

Winning the toss, Virat Kohli opted to bowl first. KKR lost Robin Uthappa early but skipper, Gautam Gambhir and Manish Pandey steadied the ship by adding 76 runs for the second wicket. Gambhir made 51 runs off 35 balls before running himself out while Pandey made 50 off 35 balls before getting out to Sreenath Aravind. Andrew Russell and Shakib al Hasan provided the late onslaught to take the team to a competitive total. In reply, Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a blistering start thanks to Chris Gayle’s 49 off 31 balls. After he fell, Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers (59 runs off 31 balls) made a mockery of the total by bating sensibly and running hard between the wickets. With this knock, Kohli has added 752 runs in this year’s IPL, which is the highest tally by a batsman in a single IPL season. KKR are still on the second position but Royal Challengers Bangalore have moved on to the fifth position with a healthy net run-rate.  Video Highlights of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Match 48, IPL 2016, Kolkata
