Mitchell Starc sent out a warning of sorts to England ahead of 2017-18 Ashes claiming hat-trick for New South Wales (NSW) in a Sheffield Shield match at Hurstville Oval. Starc ripped apart the tail of Western Australia claiming the wickets of Jason Behrendorf, Tom Moody’s nephew David Moody and Simon Mackin.

Starc finished with four for 56 from 20 overs to go with his career-best haul of eight for 73 against South Australia  at Adelaide Oval late last month.

Doug Bollinger too had snared a unique piece of Sheffield Shield history with his hat-trick helping NSW turn their match against Victoria in Wagga Wagga in 2014-15. It was Bollinger’s second hat-trick, the first one being in 2007-06 edition.

This was only the third match and first in 20 years at Hurtsville Oval in Sydney. It was also the first ever Sheffield Shield match in 20 years at Hurtsville Oval.
