Morne Morkel becomes the Man of The Match as South Africa pick up a victory against India at Rajkot to take a 2-1 lead in the ongoing ODI series of South Africa’s tour to India. South Africa started off steadily as their opener Quinton de Kock scored a good looking 103 runs knock. To defend the score, Proteas skipper AB de Villiers played his bowlers wisely to get the major breakthroughs whenever needed. As expected, the attack started with speedster Dale Steyn. But the first successful bowler was Morne Morkel as he dismissed Shikhar Dhawan letting him score only 13 runs off his 29 balls. WATCH VIDEO: Morne Morkel takes 4 for 39

The next one who fell prey to Morkel was Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. A 47 runs innings studded with 5 fours in it promised much more but ended with Morkel’s thinking and skilful deliveries. Afterwards, he also removed a set Virat Kohli who scored a total of 77 from his 99 balls. Morkel ended his spell as well the hopes for India to win the game as he dismissed Ajinkya Rahane who had played only 7 balls.

Morkel bowled his 10 overs while giving just 39 runs but taking 4 crucial wickets and thus proving elemental in the classic battle between the two nations. While all the wickets counted for the approaching defeat of the host team, it was the wicket of Virat Kohli which came as a game changer. Morkel was rewarded rightly for his performance with the Man of The Match award at the end of the match.
