He is tall and fast which is an ideal blend and a proven world-class fast bowler. Morne Morkel has risen as a cricketer and all batsmen across the world fear him today. Along with Dale Steyn, he leads the Protean pace mantle that is currently in India.
This video titled ‘India Tour Diaries’ by ‘ProteasCricket’ highlights the human being Morkel and the cricketer in him. The other South African players speak in adulation of their colleague on the completion of his 100 One-Day International feat.
The shy pacer first came into the scene almost a decade back and has made it to the helm in due course. Faf du Plessis who grew up along with Morkel reckons he is ‘still the same guy’ and to back it up, the man who is having an autumn in South African cricket AB de Villiers feels that Morkel is ‘full of energy and knows exactly how to live life’. Hashim Amla in praise of his colleague says that Morkel is one of the fittest players he knows of. His bowling partner for long Steyn also says that he (Morkel) is the go-to bowler for du Plessis or Amla.
