Video: MS Dhoni or Brendon McCullum — who is the greatest wicket-keeper batsman in last decade

MS Dhoni and Brendon McCullum share a lot in common. Both are wicketkeepers, both love to play attacking cricket and dominate the opposition, both have led their respective countries et al. The cricketers have been enormously successful in their roles and careers and it becomes almost impossible to pick between the two, even as it is only natural to draw comparisons between them.

While McCullum started his career in 2002, Dhoni started his in 2004. By the time the Kiwi hung his boots, he had amassed over 14,000 runs at a destructive strike rate of over 98 and a healthy average which is just shy of 34. Ditto for Dhoni, who has thus far scored 14,704 runs at an average of over 34 and a strike rate of almost 89.

Though the two match each other on most parameters till here, it is the dismissals behind the stumps that give Dhoni a definitive edge over his former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team-mate. While McCullum has 526 dismissals, Dhoni has a comfortable lead with 685 dismissals, stamping his authority as a better wicketkeeper. Watch the video below which was posted by Lord’s Cricket Ground on YouTube to get a better idea on how to pick the better amongst these two.
