A boy from Kalyan, a small suburb around Mumbai named Pranav Dhanawade created history on Tuesday when he became the first batsman in competitive cricket to score 1,000 runs in an innings. Dhanawade achieved the feat while playing for the KC Gandhi High School against the Arya Gurukul School, in a Bhandari Cup match. Dhanawade had on Monday broken the earlier record of highest score in school cricket, as he went past Prithvi Shaw s record of 546 made in the Giles Shield in 2014-15. Dhanawade was unbeaten on 652 on Monday, which is also the record for most runs scored in a single day of a multi-day match. The KC Gandhi High School eventually declared their innings at a record score of 1,465, with Dhanawade remaining undefeated at 1,009 not out. His world record was covered in every possible news channel and social media, with wishes pouring in from Sachin Tendulkar, Shoaib Akhtar, Ayaz Memon. Indian short format skipper MS Dhoni went on to congratulate Pranav on twitter, as well as Ajinkya Rahane who wished him on twitter. Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh could notice another Tendulkar in the making and found the numbers unbelievable. According to Deccan Chronicle, the Maharashtra government has decided to bear the coaching and educational expenses of Dhanawade, whose father is an auto rickshaw driver. Pranav was too exhausted as well as happy to achieve the target he wished for. A day before reaching 1009 runs, Dhanawade told The Hindu, "I had not decided to go bang bang from the start. I just wanted to remain not out at the end of the day. I started playing my strokes and I am delighted that I could get so many runs. I just want to continue batting till lunch tomorrow." the Mumbai teenager created history as he smashed 127 boundaries and 59 sixes to reach an unbeaten knock of 1009 during his side s KC Gandhi School two-day match against Arya Gurukul School.
