Teenaged batsman Prithvi Shaw is in serious doubt for the first Test between India and Australia at Adelaide Oval starting December 6 after he injured himself on the field during day three of the the tour game versus a CA XI on Friday.

Shaw, 19, injured himself while attempting a catch at the deep midwicket boundary at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday and was carried off the field while visibly in pain. The Indian team management sent him to a local hospital for scans, the results of which are awaited and he returned to the ground with his left ankle heavily bandaged and walking on crutches.

Shaw was then driven in a golf cart off the field to a waiting car to take him to a Sydney hospital:
