Basil D’Oliveira Trophy between South Africa and England began with the first Test commencing on the Boxing Day at Durban. This is an important series for the Proteas as they have to overcome an enormous mental barrier after suffering a tragic defeat in the Test series against South Africa.

The world celebrated Christmas with joy and happiness, carols were sung, good wishes and presents were exchanged further making it a memorable day. South African team on this occasion were seen bonding together with their respective families over a lunch.

South Africa ended Day Two of the first Test at 137 for four and are still trailing by 166 runs in the first innings. The game is evenly poised and South Africa will be happy to see their ace bowler Dale Steyn back in form.
