Video: T20 cricket overtaking Tests, feels Dwayne Bravo

Ever since the explosion of Twenty20 (T20) cricket has hit the world, there have been talks of it surpassing One-Day Internationals (ODI) and eventually Tests in popularity and gradually killing them. Experts, administrators and former players of the game have long debated on how to counter the rising popularity of T20 and how not to kill the golden goose. And now, the debate has once again flared up with West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who has made a name for himself by excelling in the shortest version of the game, saying that T20 is fast overtaking Tests and it is for the administrators to see how they can generate more interest for Test cricket. In a brief-yet-candid video, the T20 mercenary Bravo said that T20 is the way to go and Test cricket must evolve so as to remain the top priority for youngsters. If Bravo’s words are anything to go by, the administrators should take some concrete and quick steps in this direction. At the moment, the audiences are clearly enjoying the overdose of T20 cricket, as the viewership numbers of recently concluded season of Indian Premier League (IPL) suggest. On the other hand, England skipper Alastair Cook became the youngest to score his 10,000th run in front of sparse crowd. These indeed are warning signs.
