Jamaican sprinter and the fastest person ever timed, Usain Bolt is also an avid cricket fan. A good friend of his compatriot Chris Gayle, Bolt has in past supported the West Indian cricket team on various occasions. He has also taken to cricket to support various causes and on one occasion even played with Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh in Bengaluru in 2014.
This time, on the historic occasion of West Indies’ men’s and women’s cricket teams qualifying for ICC World T20 finals simultaneously, Bolt has sent his wishes to both the teams through a special video message. The short video, which was shared by Digicel Jamaica’s Twitter handle, shows Bolt expressing his happiness on the teams’ achievement.
This indeed is a momentous occasion for West Indian cricket, where their teams are placed in a great position to sweep all major ICC titles in the same year. The West Indies Under-19 team had won the U-19 World Cup earlier this year beating India in the final, while their men’s and women’s teams will take on England and Australia respectively in Kolkata on Sunday.
