Star Indian player and one of the finest batsmen, Virat Kohli has created a major record in the first ODI against New Zealand. Virat Kohli surpassed India’s legendary player Sachin Tendulkar and Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara in the first ODI in Vadodara.
Virat Kohli also completed 28,000 runs in international cricket as soon as he scored 93 runs in the first ODI against New Zealand. He is the third batsman in the world to score 28,000 runs in international cricket. Sachin Tendulkar (34,357) and Kumar Sangakkara (28,016) have previously achieved this feat.
Virat Kohli breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s record
Virat Kohli reached 28,000 runs in international cricket in the first ODI against New Zealand. He became the fastest batsman to reach 28,000 runs, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar. Virat Kohli reached 28,000 runs in international cricket in 624 innings. However, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar achieved this feat in 644 innings. Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara is third, having reached 28,000 runs in international cricket in 666 innings.
Virat surpasses Kumar Sangakkara
Virat Kohli surpassed Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara as he becomes the highest run-scorer in international cricket. Sangakkara had 28,016 runs in international cricket. However, Kohli surpassed him by scoring 93 runs in the first ODI against New Zealand. Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar tops the list of highest run-scorers in international cricket, with 34,357 runs. Virat is second, and Sangakkara is third.
