Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane & Virender Sehwag among many to wish India on Independence Day

India celebrated its 70th Independence Day on August 15, 2016. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the country from the historic Red Fort. Modi, addressed the nation, while underlining his government’s objectives of “reform, perform and transform” and also gave out a strong message to Pakistan that India will not tolerate or bow down to terrorism. While the country is still searching for its first medal in the ongoing Rio Olympics, many reached out to social media platforms to express their patriotism. Our cricketers were not behind either. Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara were among many cricketers who wished their countrymen. Kohli also shared a separate video to wish his fellow countrymen and made a special mention of his father’s birthday that falls on the same day. India humbled West Indies by 237 runs in the third Test at St Lucia. With this win India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series. They will look to make it 3-0 by winning the fourth and final Test at Port-of-Spain. India set West Indies a target of 346 to win the third Test with almost an entire day to go. India scored some quick runs on the final day and declared when they thought they had enough on the board. India picked up all 10 West Indies wickets in just about two sessions. West Indies were bowled out for just 108, which is their second lowest total against India in Tests. The fourth an final Test of the series will be played on August 18, as India will look to climb to the to-spot in the ICC Test rankings.
